FOR THE RECORD: JACK WEISS RECALL NOT OVER DENIAL OF $5 MILLION "AMENITIES FUND", BUT OVER A SEPARATE PRIVATE BUSINESS PLAN

***** FRIDAY 5:30pm UPDATE *****

FEATURED COMMENT/RUMOR TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE: Anonymous said...RUMOR IS JACK WEISS IS RECALLED THEN HUGGY BEAR BOB HERTZBERG WILL RUN FOR THE CITY COUNCIL POSITION. HERTZBERG HAS LOCKED ENDORSEMENTS FROM THE MAYOR AND EIGHT COUNCIL MEMBERS. GUESS WHO IS BEHIND THE RECALL BOYS AND GIRLS.
_______________________________________________________
I know everyone in the City hates Jackass Weiss, except (City Wrecking Ball, Community Gentrifyer and General Fund Milker) Mayor Antonio Getthefuckoutarosa: But it bothers me when other media outlets misrepresent the truth by leaving out facts.

It has been reported that Mike Eveloff started the "Throw That F*CKING ASSHOLE JACKASS WEISS THE F*CK OUT OF THE CITY" (Jack Weissass re-call campaign) because his homeowners coalition was denied $5 million in community amenities for the area, in exchange for the skyscraper development.

But besided Jackass Weiss being the world's most pompous, hardly-ever-in-chambers, arrogant, over-developer, traffic-congester, constituent-ignorer (an overall unpleasant guy) perhaps Mike Everoff (re-call campaign starter) had an axe to grind with the City's most disliked CM, BEYOND the negotiation of the $5 million
community amenities fund".

ZUMA DOGG HAS OBTAINED THIS MEMO FROM MY COLLEAGUES AT "LATHAM & WATKINS". (The folk behind "Clinton, Villagrosa, Richardson & Associates".

November 2 1,2006
VIA HAND DELIVERY
Hon. Ed Reyes, Chair
Hon. Jose Huizar, Vice-Chair
Hon. Jack Weiss, Member
Planning and Land Use Management Committee
City Hall

Honorable Councilmembers:

We are writing on behalf of our client, Century City Realty, LLC (the "Applicant"), in response to the appeals filed in the above-referenced matter by a coalition of homeowners associations' (the "Coalition"). In addition to the items set forth in our prior submissions of November 21, 2006, this letter is to inform you that Mr. Mike Eveloff, the principal negotiator for the Coalition [and starter of re-call campaign], sent our client, Bob Nowak, a copy of an investment offering (private placement memorandum) for a new company Mr. Eveloff is forming.

The investment book is attached hereto. Mr. Nowak did not make any investment in Mr. Eveloff's business.

SO BASICALLY KIDDIES, YOU HAVE A GUY WHO WAS GOING TO THE DEVELOPER TO GET $5 MILLION IN "AMENITIES" FOR THE AREA AFFECTED BY THE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT. AND AT THE SAME TIME, THREW DOWN HIS OWN -- COMPLETELY SEPARATE BUISNESS PLAN, THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE $5 MILLION AMENITIY PACKAGE HE WAS THERE TO DISCUSS.

WHEN THE DEVELOPER SAID THEY DIDN'T WANT TO FUND HIS SEPARATE, NON-RELATED PROJECT, BUT STILL WANTED TO DISCUSS THE $5 MILLION...EVERLOFF STOPPED THE PROJECT FROM MOVING FOWARD.

THAT PISSED OFF JACK WEISS WHO GOT INVOLVED. AND SO NOW THE PAYBACK...RECALL CAMPAIGN ON SOMEONE WHO IS SUCH A DICK -- EVERYONE IS JUMPIN ON THE RECALL BANDWAGON. AND EVEN OTHER COUNCILMEMBERS ARE PRACTICALLY HANDING OUT FLYERS FOR THE WEBSITE:

So the point is: Although this guy may have started the recall campaign as a bitter axe to grind, the point is, people have such disdain and disgust for Ass, it allowed the recall campaign to carry weight, and now there is momentum. (AND DON'T SAY THERE ISN'T WHEN IT'S IN LA WEEKLY, LA TIMES, LA DAILY NEWS, ETC...)

www.RecallJackWeiss.com HILARIOUS!!! And we hope they do!

If you would like to see a copy of the private offering, to invest, they are looking. contact: zumadogg@gmail.com (just kidding)

speaking of those snotty nosed stuck up city attorney wannabes, here's the VENICE lawsuit update.

Judge Pregerson has openly declared already that the current ordinance is unconstitutional however rather than injunct it outright and have the City come back with something even worse, he has asked for them to come up with a new 'plan' for spaces on the boardwalk for people who are 'inextricably intertwined' with their products.
it's a partial victory for us, because they're admitting that there needs to be space made for us, however the slimey city attorneys are still intent on regulating, sanitizing, sterilizing and balkanizing a public venue which became famous for its lack of all the above. (the public loved it that way)

these City attorneys want to interfere and manipulate everything they can get their hands on, just like smoking bans.
Its ok to buy cigs, kill yourself privately, drain the health system, but not smoke in public???
Ban the 'sale' of cigarrettes before you ban hand made jewelry, incense and T shirts!!!!!!!

oh wait, tax revenue, I forgot....fuck people's health, theres a tax involved.
you big fucking hypocrites.

get special interests out of Venice Beach. nobody fucking wanted it until the artists and entertainers made it into something popular. so fuck off and leave it alone.

(no apologies for the 'speech', ...this is how I talk when these clowns start to piss me off)

Daily News has a great opinion piece on Jack Weiss recall. If he thought for one second this was nothing he better think again. How can Antonio be chairman of his campaign to run for city attorney? All council are guilty of the very thing Weiss is being accused of.

IN politics, pandering does pay.
..And clearly Los Angeles City Councilman Jack Weiss has not spread enough solicitousness around his district. If he had paid as much attention to his constituents as he has to his run for city attorney and to the monied interests in town, he might not be facing a revolt from neglected constituents.

The recall posse, consisting mostly of homeowners groups, is accusing Weiss of being responsible for the overdevelopment of the Westside. But, mainly, it seems, they are angry because he's pandered too much to the developers' interests and not enough to theirs.

....Indeed, it seems Weiss' real crime is being arrogant and indifferent to a demanding constituency.

Jack Weiss will not be recalled, or even close.

Your buddy ZD says he knows that, but just wants to "put some stink on" Jack as he runs for and wins the office of City Attorney.

These are the actions of rank amateurs, since all one needs to do is look at how ineffective this device was in recalling, or rather trying to recall Councilman Villaraigosa and keep him from being elected Mayor during the Mayoralty race.

Eliseo Valenzuela, the toady for Nick Pacheco didn't even bother filing any signatures because it was so hard to obtain registered voters signatures in the specific district. It was a total backfire, and so will this effort be.

District Five is particularly diverse and geographically spread from Cheviot Hills to the Valley.

The requirement is for 37,000 voters to sign, which means they probably need to gather 45,000 or more to be sure they have enough correct ones.

Walter Moore has a better chance of being elected Mayor and ZD being elected Councilman than getting the required signatures.

All these dopes are doing is giving Jack some free ink while he wins this for City Attorney in a walk.

City Attorney Jack Weiss; get used to it.

Can people be more dense???

I can't WAIT for Villaraigosa to jump OFF the Jack Weiss bandwagon.

As Weiss's ship sinks, Antonio will run for fear of getting Weiss's stank all over him and ruining HIS run for re-election.

Jack Weiss for City Attorney? Put your money where your mouth is.

I live in Weiss' district. I contacted him a few times about important issues. He never responded. I live near the Beverly Center where they are building the new development that will just bring more traffic to this already congested area. La Cienega and Beverly is a major intersection. I never go anywhere near it because of traffic even though I live two blocks away, and he wants to give us more traffic.

When that development was getting approval for the project the developer had guys out there trying to get people to sign petitions saying they wanted it. No local would sign it because we didn't want more traffic so these sleazy people had out of town visitors sign the petitions! That can't be legal. I got into it with one of the people at Rexall. I sat there as he told people that it will bring low income rentals to needy elderly people in the area. It will have a market so they won't have to drive. Bullshit! They got rid of Ralphs and probably won't put a market back in there. Ralphs people told me that. These are the types of people that Weiss likes to support.

One last thing, during Antonios run for Mayor, when he was finally doing well, you would see Weiss' little head in every single photo op. He was like school kids who like to jump up and down behind a news reporter in the field just to say they were on TV. He would run from photo op to photo op just to get his mug in there. He even went to photo ops for other councilmembers whom he hates if Antonio would be there. I have no respect for this guy. Sometimes I wonder if he didn't get that guy to put a swastika on his office door just to get attention for himself.

You know what? That is completely plausible.

Nothing Weiss does surprises me. I look forward to watching Villaraigosa abandoning him. Weiss won't even be able to stay in office, let alone win another one, whether city attorney or state rep. When you've had a recall EFFORT (successful or not) against you, your political career is toast. This will follow him around forever, like James Hahn's election day crybaby meltdown on KFI.

For the record, I did say that the recall campaign wasn't as much about recalling Jack, cause he'll be termed out, or elected City Attorney before the re-call is done, as putting stink on him for his City Attorney campaign.

HOWEVER, I did not say "I" just wanted to put some stink on him...THE RECALL EFFORT is to put some stink on him...and I am not a part of the recall effort -- but OF COURSE I would like to see that pompous, hardly ever in chambers arrogant, over-developer, constituent ignorer sent back to the private sector.

And it was brought to my attention that if they get the signatures (and it will be a challenge, but IS doable according to some -- it will prevent Ass from doing any more damage in this City for five years, if my friend is correct. (Can't run for five years if you are recalled, even if it's after you leave office.)

You can't compare to the Villaraigosa recall. There is a big difference between the "sleazy bar owners" in CD14 and the big developers in CD5.

Jack has a problem on his hands. If anything, just for the momentum its created, getting press and steam.

It doesn't help too that his own colleagues hate his guts enough to pass out flyers for the recall website.

May 25, 2007 12:16 PM

Blogger Mayor Sam said:

Just from what I see, this effort has the cash to get the signatures. Its not hard to do when you have money, just ask the strip club owners who had the jack to hire Steve Afriat.

If developers are sufficiently pissed off and willing to bankroll the appropriate NIMBYs, magic can happen.

956 - good point.

And unlike Villaraigosa, Weiss has no real natural constituency nor sufficient well-wishers beyond the Mayor himself. How much of his Michael Trujillo resources is the Mayor going to pass to Jack? I don't suspect much now that the Clinton campaign and other things are on the front burner. Jack doesn't bring much to Antonio other than friendship and Antonio has more friends than he needs.

Jack may be toast.

When you have KFI that has more drive time listeners in the thousands hearing why Weiss should be recalled it will definitely help with the 22,000 signatures they said are needed. Again, the Westsiders are lazy and just complain they go into action. They have 56 homeowners assoc. backing them and sick and tired of traffic. This will get a lot more steam in the days ahead. This will hurt any chance Weiss Ass has had and KFI keep bringing up Tienne Pearce fiasco. Weiss was sticking up on KFI for clowncil dumb ass motion to give the guy $2.5 million even after seeing photos of Tienne doing the same thing he accused LAFD about.

8.35am If you dont get the required signatures, why on earth would you turn any in? So, if the Weiss recall movement gets less than the required 22,000 or so they would be nuts to turn them over to the City. However, they wouldn't be nuts if they gave that list to anybody running against Jack for City Attorney.
My prediction: Jack Weiss will beat the recall but lose to Bob Hertzberg in the City Attorney election. Oh, yes, Bob is running in spite of the Weiss camp hoping and praying (and telling everybody who will listen) that Bob isn't running.

The proponents in CD5, as opposed to those in CD14, are some bright people. As compared to Eliseo and John "Not the Senator" Edwards.

CD5 residents are smart and rich too. They will hit the recall web site, which is great by the way, and ask to sign the petition.

And this recall will get more press than Eliseo's dumb recall. And with that press comes stigma.

Weiss never wins city attorney.

Change his name to "Jackoff." Because his sole accomplishment in office thus far has been doing that to Antonio.

To the moron who asked does anyone in CD5 listen to KFI. To show the power of radio KFI made the city council think twice about their motion to give Tienne Pearce $2.5 million. Because of KFI the story got a hell of a lot bigger then it was and way more publicity. Every other station picked it up as did the local newspapers daily and weekly. So YES KFI WILL INDEED HELP WEISS RECALL. KFI is now on the immigration issue and because of them Senators are getting thousdands of e-mails and calls. I know you meant that wasn't their demographic, but I think that's an over-generalization -- and I learned in radio, "the target is not the market." In other words, a lot of adults showed up to see "Shrek" even though they are targeting young kids. (A lot of adults that went, didn't go with kids.) I like AC/DC and NWA, but listen to other radio stations you wouldn't expect. But I hear you that it's not their strongest area.

Comparing Shrek to a more conservative AM radio station is comparing apples to oranges...

Shrek is a megabucks movie (cartoon/CGI or not) with mass appeal

KFI is a conservative talk station on AM radio...not much mass appeal. I don't hear liberal westsiders saying..."You know...I want to listen to something new...lets try KFI!" Its jut not them (and yes...this is a generalization...

Let's be VERY clear: The business plan thing is a RUSE. No business plan was EVER given to JMB.

Presumably, the plan is being mentioned to disparage and/or embarrass me and to create some suspicion with regard to my motives. No doubt this was done as a diversionary tactic to minimize the impact of the damaging information being presented concerning the JMB project and the real reasons behind the recall.

I feel it is important to set the record straight. Often, before discussions with JMB and their attorneys (George Mihlsten & Francis Park), we spoke of what each of us do outside of volunteer community work.

During one of those casual conversations, the lawyers asked "so, what are you working on when you aren't making developer's lives difficult?" I then described several things including a start-up. THEY then asked if I had any printed material. As I had worked with these two before and had some respect for them, as a courtesy, I showed them the plan. That's it. There was NO effort to get anyone to invest. Not at all. The simple fact is that I never attended ANY negotiating session without two other representatives from other associations with me. They can corroborate all that happened.

This kind of effort to malign me shows the depths to which Jack Weiss, JMB and its representatives will go to push through a flawed project worth many hundreds of millions of dollars.

What is important to point out is that BOTH George Mihlsten of Latham and Bob Nowak of JMB called me to apologize for how I was being portrayed. So, if the people ACTUALLY AT THE TABLE don't see a problem and apologized, it should make you wonder what those pushing the issue are trying to hide.

Also ask yourself: How can I be all that bad when Lisa Trifilleti from Jack's office thanked me for my leadership on this issue?

Let's put the focus back where it belongs: On Jack Weiss.

Over 50 HOA leaders gave him a D+ on his job(see the www.recalljackweiss.com) website, links area for a copy. Almost two dozen voted to start the recall. Hundreds of volunteers have asked to be a part of the effort. You will see five names as the "official" proponents of the recall. Mine will not be there.

This isn't about me or one project or a business plan. Its about Jack Weiss violating the trust of his constituents.

Mike Eveloff

ZD, i'll say one thing in your favor: at least you allow opposing views on this blog and don't censor it, which is more than i can say for the nasty Recall site sponsored by Eveloff on the Tract 7260 website. when i and a couple of others tried to post comments on their "blog" (which openly admits to having a blog editor/ i.e., censor -- that is SO contrary to any decent protocols re; blogs, worse than communism), all our comments are NOT posted at all, tho there was absollutely NOTHING inappropriate --me, must pointing out what a joke it is to see Janice Hann quoted re: wess not listening to others -- she can yak and yak and go on in her self-aggrandizing way, make dumb motions like making non-city LAX-area hotels subject to her min. wage ordinances (shot down by the courts, twice, and LAT opined against it, among ev/one else): in other words, she is a silly and irrelevant gasbag and no one cares about her -- except Eveloff and his Gang of 5. (Zine is a buffoon from the W. VAlley who flaunts being essentially free of the city, and "our" problems w/ gangs, graffiti, etc. -- he's also ireelevant, an uncouth oaf.)

Re: Eveloff's claims that Lisa from Weiss's office thanked him for his "leadership," that was BEFORE this recall, and before the other pblms surfaced, not NOW, another twisting of the facts and truth.

Yes, I know there are 5 others who signed the peition: One is Steve Twining, the Pres. of the BABCNC (hillside N C), but NO ONE in that ASSOCIAITON supports him on this, certainly not the rank and file who never even attend the meetings: it's just him and the Board, He's always been griping that Weiss d/n go to the meetings in person unless there's a special reason to whe he HAS -- BUT WEISS'S EXCELLENT DEPUTIES ARE ALWAYS THERE, AND HE SENDS REPS FROM FIRE/POLICE ETC., I've heard other BABCNC board members criticize twerpy, whining Twining and say that have gotten excellent support from Weiss's ofc.
As have most individual homeowners.

Another signer is Marcia Selz, also a retired grandma w/ too much time on her hands -- she gets herself onto many Boards (you can be just involved in any community group to get on one, mind), and that's one way she inflates the figures of how many allgedly support the recall.

As for the report Eveloff quotes re: D- on Weiss: the three signers/ plotters on that include the self-same Marcia Selz, Diana Plotkin (another Gang of 5 Recall signer and like the other two I've mentioned, a retired lady w/ too much time on her hands, and a desire to turn the clock back to '50's Mayberry.) The third signer of that is G. G. Verone, who reps NOBODY IN THE HILLS, started a group called S.O.S. for "Save the Strip," -- from the enormous "Sunset Specific Plan" We Ho has approved, centering on Sunset Plaza Drive -- includes two10-story high-rise hotel/convention center/ condo/ retail complexes and MORE.
-- Even those like me who strongly oppose that and have supported people who took on that issue in the past, CAN'T STAND VERONE; when I and a few formerly active others talked to her, she ripped our heads off for not doing exaclty what SHE wants and when and how, dished dirt on a famous director/producer for the same reason... no wonder the only people she can ally w/ her are the self-same Selz and Plotkin, who clearly so P. O's Weiss w/ their haughty, bossy demeanor that they've led us to conclude it was they who were dissed. NO WAY.

So, these are the figureheads/ plotters behind the Recall: a sad and sneaky lot, who have to resort to censorhip to get anti-weiss comments on their nasty little blog.
