Trashy Troubles For Hahn

The Daily News is reporting that LA City officials are skittish about the ability to deliver on Mayor Poopy's promise to close the Sunshine Canyon landfill.

Key to any hopes at re-election, Poopy hopes to be able to keep this one promise to the San Fernando Valley.

But CLA Ron Deaton has issued a memo raising concerns that 1) Pulling LA out of Sunshine Canyon could cost millions more per year and 2) Even if LA pulls out of Sunshine, the operator - Browning Ferris Industries - would have the option of repalcing LA's trash with that of other agencies - effectively making Poopy's promise a little more than hollow while wasting millions of dollars.

In the meantime, the Daily News chimes in with an editorial on Poopy's Deaton-Miscowski shuffle.

My advice to Jimmy H - watch where you poop!

So, what else is new? Remember, it was Hahn as City Attorney who APPROVED the expansion of Sunshine.

So, what else is new? Remember, it was Hahn who promised to the Valley and Valley leaders before he was elected not to interfere or engage in the Secession campaign.

So, what else is new? Remember, it was Hahn who also appointed Commissioners now under criminal investigation to serve on the Airport Commission, the Harbor Commission and the DWP Commission.

Consistency? Honesty? Compentency? Integrity? Credibility?... HAHN?

(which one doesn't fit).......and your surprised ?

One has to wonder why this is so important to Ron Deaton.
Could it be that the lobbyist for BFI, Arnie B. used to work with Mr. Deaton in the CLA office.
The ties that exist are endless and we will see whether the lobby effort of BFI will win and convince the Mayor and the Council that Sunshine is good for the city.

The Mayor should get real. Why should the City pay MILLIONS of dollars to take its trash far away, and have other cities save MILLIONS of dollars by dumping their trash in our City??? This should be a real Mayors race issue.....

This is yet another example of the Mayor getting terrible political advice. Sunshine only really matters to a handful of valley people - led by crazy Kim Thompson - all of whom hate him because of his role in defeating secession. Who keeps advising Hahn? If it is McOsker....God help us!

You need to check your facts abwaste. I have NEVER in my life been pulled out of city hall. I believe you are speaking of one of the 300 residents (part of that small handful of valley people) who were at the council meeting the day they voted on the expansion.

In fact you can go check the Daily News archives for Thursday, December 9, 1999 and you will see the front page showing one protester named Nora Schumacher being hauled out of City Council Chambers. We don't even look alike.

FYI-as a pacifist, the thought of me threatening Cindy is pretty laughable.

Sorry. I know you want people to believe that I am a crack pot or a very loose cannon, but you need to at least post facts that can be proven.

When I say something about Sunshine Canyon, and by the way, there are way more than just a handful of people who oppose urban dumps, it is because I know what I'm talking about and it's something that you and a very short list of City Hall special interest lobbyists or old employees don't want constituents to know.

If that makes me a loose cannon or a crack pot-so be it. But I call it telling the truth or progressively thinking about how to get L.A. to use alternatives to archaic landfills.

And for the record, I did not post the above that you accused me of anyway.

Just because you don't like what I'm saying doesn't make me crazy ...

Kim Thompson
